Filling the all-rounder position vacated by Andrew McDonald in the Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers line-up will be Alex Keath’s focus this season.
The 197-centimetre Victorian made steady progress last season, playing four RYOBI One-Day Cup matches and two Sheffield Shield fixtures.
His best performance came against Western Australia in a Shield match when he combined with Matthew Wade to guide the Bushrangers to victory with an unbroken 72-run partnership after the side had been in trouble at 5-99 chasing 169.
Keath will spend the winter at the Ageas Bowl International Cricket Academy in Hampshire as a 2013 Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder.
Keath, and the other five AIS scholarship holders, will link up and train with the Australia A side during their time in England, as well as the ODI team during the ICC Champions Trophy and the Test squad ahead of the Ashes.
