Maxwell had a standout season with Fitzroy Doncaster at Premier level last season forcing Victorian selectors to offer him an opportunity. Batting anywhere from one to seven, the right-hander scored 669 runs at 51.5, while he claimed 35 wickets at 27.5 with his off-spinners giving him genuine all-round status.

Maxwell's all-round talents were recognised with his selection in the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, and his involvement in a title-winning side will give him considerable confidence. A clean hitter and athletic fieldsman, Maxwell will be itching for further opportunities at interstate level.
