Thu, 4 February 2010
Four Victorians - John Hastings, James Pattinson, Jon Holland and Alex Keath - represented the Prime Ministers XI in the tour match against the West Indies in Canberra on Thursday. Keath, the Victorian under-19 captain, kept his good form from the ICC Under-19 World Cup by taking four of the five West Indian wickets, including that of skipper Chris Gayle, while making 25 off 29 balls coming in at number five. Pattinson (28 off 27) and Holland (17 off 10) also made contributions with the bat. The West Indies were always in control after making 5/399 off their 45 overs, Gayle finishing with 146 off 89 balls. The West Indies restricted the PM's XI to 7/312 in reply, with Tom Cooper the star for the PM's XI - making 160 not out off 120 deliveries - meaning the visitors won by 90 runs on the D/L system.
