DEC Bushrangers squad named for must-win clash with Bulls

Thu, 18 February 2010

Victorian selectors have named a 12-man squad for the DEC Bushrangers' must win clash against the XXXX GOLD Queensland Bulls in the Ford Ranger Cup at the Gabba on Saturday. With David Hussey and Dirk Nannes joining Cameron White and Clint McKay on Australian duties, Andrew McDonald will skipper the side. Rob Quiney (groin) and James Pattinson (foot) are also missing from the team that beat NSW last week with Michael Hill, Darren Pattinson and Glenn Maxwell coming into the squad. The DEC Bushrangers will host the Ford Ranger Cup final against the PKF Tasmanian Tigers on Sunday, February 28, if they beat Queensland on Saturday night, but a loss will mean the one-day season is over. Despite the loss of key players to national commitments and injury, Victorian coach Greg Shipperd is confident the team will perform. "We've got a lot of depth in our squad, if someone goes out there's always someone else there ready to step up," Shipperd said. "Throughout the season guys like John Hastings, Aaron Finch and Matthew Wade have taken their games to the next level and combined with players the ilk of Andrew McDonald, Brad Hodge and Chris Rogers, we've still got a strong team. "There's a lot at stake in this game and Queensland is always a handful, but we've been performing well and look forward to the challenge."
